Nothing says spring like flowers and new life! That’s why, when the Hunter family agreed to take their spring maternity portraits at the Virginia State Arboretum, I did a little happy dance. This beautiful family is welcoming their third child in a few short weeks, and boy are they so excited to meet their little one! We talked all things baby, motherhood and shared quite a few laughs along the way. Now equipped with wonderful memories and a gallery full of sentimental photographs, I’d love to show you a little bit from the Hunters’ spring maternity session!
Spring Maternity Portraits at the Virginia State Arboretum
One thing I forgot about was PROM! There were people everywhere. Alas, hidden behind the Hunter family are about a dozen high schoolers dressed to the nines! Shhh, it’s our little secret. 😉
After using the grounds in front of the Battery, we perused the dogwood trail and landed in the scenic garden. There, we found a variety of flowering plants. By far, the favorites were wisteria and honeysuckle. The air was so fragrant with the heady scent of flowers and fresh cut grass!
We made our way over to a beautiful redbud that had reached its peak blooms, and found the most perfect glow I’ve probably ever seen. The Hunter family danced and played games, basking in the golden sunlight and enjoying delightful peals of laughter.
Nothing makes a momma heart swell with love like getting hand-picked flowers from her babies.
Each time I have the honor of photographing an expecting mama, it reminds me of the unique experience of carrying a child. It’s beautiful, yet exhilarating. Of course Alex and Juliana are so incredibly excited to begin this new chapter!
Just look at how Juliana glows! Such a radiant soul. Thank you, sweet Hunter family, for inviting me to share your story and create fond memories together. Heartfelt congratulations on your new little one!
